I just got Kiri-no-mori from o-cha and I have to say Im disappointed. I've been brewing it at 75 deg c and although it is less bitter than the previous cheaper matchas I have bought at groceries, it's really lacking in flavor. I brew it at 75 c, I boil my filtered water in a stainless steel pan and follow the matcha protocall (warm bowl, sifted matcha, whisking etc)
any suggestions
also sifting has been adressed.. I use my old tea ball as a whisker but when I tap it to knock the matcha through I get matcha on the rim of my chawen, what could I use to press it down?
Some good news. I bought this teakettle a while back http://www.amazon.com/Aroma-AWK-161-Cla ... B001K4FJCO it comes with a tea infuser ball that I figured I would never use. I was afraid I threw it away but found it last night and it looks like it will be the perfect sifter! Will let you all know how it does.
ahh it literally has been staring me in the face this whole time !! i am not at all embarassed by my denseness heholivierco wrote:With your chashaku perhaps?clareandromeda wrote: also sifting has been adressed.. organic Yame
I'm half way through a can of organic Yame matcha from yuuki-cha. And I LOVE it. its very aromatic and has a light sweet taste to it.
I also got Yuuki's Tenkei Hana to try as koicha but havent opened yet. anyone has tried it?
I'm considering ordering the Miyabi from Den's. I had their organic matcha but it didnt make a strong impression even tough i finished the can quite quickly. I just started drinking matcha about 6 months ago and still trying all different options out there.
Whats the best time to order matcha? i noticed Yuuki-cha's 2009 harvest starting in mid-June http://www.yuuki-cha.com/Organic+Matcha ... ame+Matcha).
Does it makes a big difference when you order? I realized that the matcha im enjoying is almost a year old, so would the new harvest taste even better?[/url]
