Ah, as I mentioned in the TeaDay thread, I bought some of these on a lark, not having seen this discussion.... mostly to bump up to free shipping :D

In any case, glad I did! This tea is really great, although I'll probably freak everybody out with my brewing parameters -- 8 grams (balls) in a 6.5 oz gaiwan. I'm steeping for only 60 seconds here initially. It's a nice strong black tea with a twist... but I can't seem to grasp the twist -- seems to stick and linger on the roof of my mouth.

Mmm, either way, very tasty.

Well no wonder it sticks to the roof of your mouth, Drax.
At that concentration, it's not tea liquor, thats tea syrup!

It's not as bad as it sounds. I'm brewing the tea a lot shorter than most people do. I've tried it with other black teas -- halving the amount of tea and doubling the time, and I get roughly the same results. Maybe I would have normally gone with only 6g, though...

In any case, I'm on my 5th cup brewing at 3.5 min, and it's going great!

I actually want to weigh one of them to see what one actually weighs. I am not sure if they are rolled like Dragon Pearl or compressed like a mini, mini tou cha.
I want to try these,
but also want to sort of get away from Yunnan teas.
Nothing against them, just my last 8 kinds of tea bought were all Yunnan teas.
They were all good, but it is just there are sooo many tea regions out there.

But Yunnan does seem to have some cool looking shaped teas like these weird stick/spiral green tea things
and snow dragon...but that might not be yunnan only...

i tested them today.

3 balls in a 150ml gaiwan. quick rinse.

smell and taste is good.

https://camellia-sinensis.com/the/fiche ... n+Mao+Feng

its 95% the same flavor. chocolate, a bit fruity, etc.

I haven't tried that specific Keemun, or the dragon pearls, but I've never found Keemun and Yunnan to be that similar.

I do enjoy a good quality Yunnan, but I shied away from the pearls last time I ordered from Adagio because I thought they sounded a bit gimmicky. I'll have to get a sample next time, it sounds like people have really enjoyed them.

I really enjoy the black dragon pearls. I tried them out and they are indeed very tasty. It's easily on my short list of teas to drink. :D

I would maybe like to try some but I'm afraid Adagio USA seems to be a local business only.

That's what comes out of their shipping info page.

On the other hand their European operation offers free shipping from Spain to Finland.

No such luck applies when shipping to Canuckistan (eg. Canada) !

Cheers.

I am not an experienced tea connoisseur, but right now the Black Dragon Pearls are my favorite Adagio tea. I recommend it highly.

Thanks for the info,
did not know it was that cheapto ship to canada.
I actually orderedsome Adagio tea but from Splendid life-the Splenda website as they had free shipping anywhere in the US last month and actually had the Adagio tea I was looking for.
They only have 4 kinds of the adagio tea right now as they are not really a tea store but a splenda and products shop...

Exactly. Adagio Europa is local to Europa: free shipping offer from Spain to Finland (and beyond !!!).

Adagio North America is local to the USA: no free shipping offer to Canada, a neighbour country.

Cheers.

I got a free sample of BDP a couple months ago and I'm a fan! I made it way to strong the first time (you don't want to know how many pearls I used) but after I figured it out, it's been one of my favorite teas.

While I'm wary of reviving old threads in the other (not tea) forums I frequent, one of them is very....pro-search. I don't know what the etiquette on this forum is.

Anyway. I've tried Teavana's BDP, and love it. How does Adagio's compare? The price is certainly more attractive.
