Avatar not working

After having been away for a while I logged in and to my surprise saw a strange avatar so what do you do, you try to upload the right one but;

Maximum dimensions; width: 600 pixels, height: 600 pixels > it is, 100x100
file size: 49.00 KiB > it is 23kb

So what's the deal :?:
