Camellia Sinensis :D
Love that shop. Going there for a workshop in 2 weeks, can't wait!
I looked at that cake on the online shop, but it was a bit too expensive for me.
Please share your tasting experience.

Enjoy :!:

Hi!

Well if it a fake Lao Ban Zhang then I am still very happy with it! The taste is flowery, sweet. The liquor is between orange and light brown but very clear.

I am buying tea from Camellia Sinensis for about 10 years now and I never been disappointed with their product.

I am confident that this tea cake is genuine! Each years their team go to Asia for weeks and gather the tea that they bring back and sell from their 3 stores or online.

I really trust them!

Give it a try! Buy a 50g and tell me what you think!

Cheers!

😁😁😁

Completely agree. As long as you like the tea it doesn't really matter if it's fake or real. I think the seller also isn't completely able to verify whether authentic material is used, but at least they're took the effort to visit China and curate the stuff that they like.

Thanks for chiming in. Scary figure but that what reality is about genuine LBZ, the market doesn't lie...and the people who posted on that thread I linked know what they are talking about. No newbies making assumptions.

Again if you are happy with the tea, no worries at all, it's what matters in the end.

Cheers!

This blog entry by EoTsums up quite well what is going on with LBZ:

Lao Banzhang – A village in decline

IMO stick to puer regions more traditional and environmentally friendly.

Very sad story.. it shocking to see that... the more people get rich(for most of them) the less they care about our planet..

Indeed, unfortunately. Ordinary people think/assume trees are like chairs or something like that. If they remotely knew what trees really are they would treat them with the respect they truly deserve.

My recommendation: stay away from LBZ and greedy modern Chinese who are purely there for the profit rather than preserving the jewel of Yunnan province, one of the few pristine and traditional areas left in modern China.

Kind of not sure why even foreigners are so exited about LBZ. The bitter taste of this tea is not for everyone, not mentioning the price for the real stuff:-) The village hasn't been promoted for it's outstanding tea or something. If you can read Chinese , you would find few articles about how this village got rich and famous. You would find out , that eventually any other place around can get to this stage as well, if GZ biz men want to. And I'm purposely not writing "tea" biz men :-) coz all the "shout" about LBZ comes from different direction than you would imagine ;-)
Anyway, buy samples, don't bother with wrapper, if like tea and think it's worth the price then buy...buy bit more, coz might be gone soon , if it's good one.
