I know that there are already so many topics about this, but my question is somewhat specific. Is there a safe way to store puerh cakes in a kitchen cabinet? This cabinet is completely empty, is low, and has no other cabinets adjoining it.
I know it's not the best idea, but the one other dark and potentially odor-free place that I have in my apartment I just discovered smells strongly of curry whenever the neighbors are cooking, so it's definitely out.
Also, I've seen activated charcoal recommended for keeping with Shu Puerh. Is this also true for Sheng, or does it absorb too much of the cake's scent?
Thanks!

Re: Yet Another Puerh Storage Question...
I'd really recommend that you do not store your tea anywhere near your kitchen. The smells and oils will affect your tea in a negative way. Do you have a closet you could store it in? A friend of mine has a chest that he cut some holes in to allow circulation. That might also be a thought.

That's the whole problem...the only closet that isn't full of cleaners or mothballs etc. smells like Jamaican food at least twice a day.

Re: Yet Another Puerh Storage Question...
I brought my puerh beengs to work, where the climate is controlled. No particular odors there.
I keep a smaller chunk of each at home in the cabinet with the other teas.

That's a good idea--I think I'l try that.
In the meantime, I'm storing it in a cardboard box behind some books. Thanks for the idea!
