I had a bottle of Yamazaki sherry cask. It was good but whisky of the year IDK. If you really wanna try a great Japanese whisky get your hands on a single cask Karuizawa.

Overall though I don't think sherry cask whiskies pair as well with your average Puerh flavor profile as peated Islay whisky.

Last night we where drinking a 1989 Littlemill single cask bottled by Liquid Library along a pot of Mengku YYX thin paper. The pairing was not the most complimentary. A younger sheng from Yiwu would have better complimented Triple distilled Littlemills subtle fruity nature.

Inspired by this thread ( I have have been neglecting Teachat lately) today I paired a pot of 2004 Yan Qing Hao Yi Wu Cha Wang with the Karuizawa 1970 cask 6227 " Geisha with a Paper Crane"

The rich oak and subtle sherry fruits of this beautiful old malt where complimented perfectly by the ethereal nature of the 04 YQH.

That was really one expensive bottle. Was there an occasion?

Wow! Gasninja, a auction grade whisky. Would be great with iconic tea like Song Ping Hao.

I am happy with the humble Yamazaki(18yrs). Just got a Nikka (21yrs)... Let's see what tea I can pair with...hmmmm

Cheers! :D

All this whisky has me shaking my head. Living in Kentucky ruins me for whisky, ahem Bourbon. Funny enough, I cant stand the stuff.

Maybe because you're not drinking it with sheng!

I wish I had a whole bottle. I Managed to swap for a couple shots. I do have a few 80s &90s Karuizawas that I picked up before prices started going crazy. But I will trade for a Song Pin Hao anyday

Today Springbank Green Thistle 15 yr with 2003 7542.

Springbank is all I want to drink lately. The 12 CS is great. Never had this Green Thistle though?

I have heard the last release of the CS12 was really special.
