Flavor - excellent-good
Thanks!
Re: recommendations to pu erh tea
It's tough to go wrong with anything from White2Tea. I'd look at their website and see what appeals to you.
Re: recommendations to pu erh tea
Agree. You can get a lot of 25 gram samples from white2tea with a $70 budget. That way you can find out what you like
Re: recommendations to pu erh tea
Mind you, that's really not enough to buy particularly good tea, but try...
This list:

If you're willing to drink very new stuff, it's easier. As with White2tea, there's also CreamofBanna.com who has reasonably priced new teas.
This is assuming you want cakes. Samples--you're on your own, as you can mix and match according to what you like, pretty much from any internet shop.

Re: recommendations to pu erh tea
As a general rule of thumb, look at Menghai Factory shou (ripe) & Dayi material.
Have you checked this out?

Bttw, $70 is a very tight budget if you are looking at several cakes, especially with shou as this tea has gone up the roof in the last 5 years or so (other puerh types as well).
Gluck!

Re: recommendations to pu erh tea
I think a budget of 70 is fine to start out. Just stick to samples: http://www.banateacompany.com/pages/pue ... erVar.html
you could get 3 of 4 of banas sampler (not the vintage/aged tea) for 70 or you could get the overall sampler and the aged...
or just spend all 70 on a lot of great samples from White2Tea, TeaUrchin, Essence of Tea...(the amount of grams you get is in descending order of those 3 vendors...)

Re: Recommendations to pu erh tea
Maybe just drop an email to Paul at White2Tea with your tea requirements as you mentioned above. He is a very helpfult person who also helped me with my own choice of tea types.
