Quality nuo mi xiang "sticky rice" pu-erh

I really love the sticky rice pu-erh, like http://yunnansourcing.com/en/laocangtea ... xiang.html this one from Yunnan Sourcing that I currently have, but it's clearly not of the best quality. The flavor is rather monotone and the steepings run out very quickly. Does anyone know of some quality pu-erh with the sticky rice frangrance that I can purchase with shipping to the US?

It may be worth the gamble if you really enjoy the sticky rice fragrance/taste.

I also read that the sticky rice plant root is used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). I am not sure if it is the root, leaf or actual rice gradual in the mixed with the pu-erh tea in the mini toucha you mentioned above...but I could see getting a hold of high quality maocha and some of the "Nuo Mi Xiang" (stick rice fragrance plant) or "Nuo Dao Gen" (sticky rice plant root) and experimenting with pressing your own cakes. I have seen nuo dao gen avaible on TCM herb websites.

A number of links do not work, but there are many with this product. It does seem to come mostly in individual packs. Those usually do not seem to be of such high quality. A search showed Ginkosetto wrote up some that were better (Da Yi and Guan Zi Zai.) Link:

I have been curious about these "sticky rice" pu'er tuo's for a while. Unfortunately, I'd read a number of bigger tea bloggers put tuo's down, so I avoided them for a while. The current top review for the one you linked doesn't inspire, particularly, but I'd be open to trying "sticky rice" pu'er if a good one was identified. I believe Seven Cups has one that I looked at recently, even.

So it is that the tuo's are scented with the root of the sticky rice plant and not that sticky rice is embedded within the tuo somewhere?

According to Steepster it looks like AllanK (who I think is a member of this forum) owns the "2009 Organic Sticky Rice Aroma" cake. You might consider shooting him a message about it, he may have even been the person who reviewed it on Amazon.

I remember having a Thai oolong that was processed using sticky rice some years ago. It's a very enjoyable flavor in your tea if that is what you want. It tends to overwhelm the actual tea with its distinctive aroma and flavor. Maybe adding this to tuo cha isn't a bad idea!

Bellmont, I appreciate your research efforts. I'm definitely more interested in buying some pu-erh that has reviews already, rather than just going for some of unknown quality. I will try to get in contact with AllanK

BioHorn, I did see that old post by Ginkosetto, but I cannot find any sticky rice pu-erh from Da Yi and Guan Zi Zai factories, at least not on any English-speaking sites.

I'm hoping that someone who already has experience with sticky rice pu-erh will chime in here at some point.
