I buy the tea i buy because It feels good in my mouth and stomach, and a session with it provides a relaxing experience that stimulates my senses.

Daniel,
You might need to prime the pump a little. Why do youdrink (or not drink) tea?

Some people like coffee, I like tea as a non alcoholic drink.

Tea is one of the simple pleasures in my life that I can afford* myself. Drinking pu-erh, specifically, I have found somatic and taste experiences unparallelled to any other food I am have consumed. Additionally, to me tea is an artifact of place with so many different varieties and places it is produced and drank... in this this way tea, for myself, acts as a jumping off point to explore cultures different than my own.

*In addition to the actual monetary expense: I make room, time, and a calm mind for my tea drinking.

With all this in mind, I purchase tea that has an excellent drinking experience. If I am buying online, I purchase from folks who respect drinking experience by offering descriptions that are as close to actual experience as possible (and come without embellishment...even if those embellishments are touted as "true").

I've not found tastes similar to good puerh -- aged or unaged -- in any other beverage, cha qi is relaxing and much more manageable than other mind-altering things, bargain hunting is fun.

I started drinking tea because it's healthier than cola. But it was years and years ago.

Now drinking tea brings me calm, setting up a gong fu tea session makes me to slow down and concentrate.

I transitioned from drinking the occasional english style black tea with milk, to larger quantities of green chinese tea while in china where ALL water needs to be boiled and even commercial distilled water dispenser flasks for a water tower can be suspect since fly by night outfits are not beyond just filling them at the tap.

Plain boiled hot water is insipid, tea is nicer.

since then I just drink lots of water, boiled with tea in it.
