Type of Pu-Erh

One of the intentionally aged teas, Pu-Erh has a loyal following.

I bought this puerh from my local chinese store at a relatively cheap price. Being unable to read the chinese characters, I don't know if it's a raw or cooked puerh. No description was available on the price tag.

Is it a good idea to buy this kind of puerh or should I buy a small cake?

If you are new to puerh samples from a good vendor would be the way to go.

If you buy cheap, anonymous Puerh, you'll get terrible tea most of the time, unless you get really lucky. Like Mr. Mopu said, go for a known vendor, buy samples and try out stuff. Once you know what you like, you can decide on which cakes you want to buy.

Since it was a cheap puerh, it should be cooked puerh. Right?

This doesn't say anything - it's what possibly could be tea in a red package.

It's definitely a Puerh. From the colour and taste of the tea. But the taste is not that bad for the price I paid.
