Re: Yong De best year?
The question is impossible to answer. YongDe County has many plantations and factories. As a consequence, it is impossible to designate one year as the best. There are too many varibles other than year that must be considered.edkrueger wrote:In what order would you rank pu erh from Yong De form 2006, 2007 and 2008?

I haven't had any of them, but based on my limited experience with 2006 and 2007 teas (which seems to resonate with a lot of other peoples opinions) the quality of tea being put out was sub par due to a lot of factors compared to other years. All teas I've had from 2008 (which, to be fair isn't a lot) seem to be of higher quality in general. I would assume 2008. Then again this is just a guess, so take that with a huge grain of salt. I don't claim to be an authority on the subject either so hopefully some more people who know more than I do can comment. If I had more money and more time then I'd probably be worth listening to once in a while after a decade or two .edkrueger wrote:I'm not so sure that its impossible to answer. For example: 2006 was considered a bad year for Taiwanese oolong because it was warmer. Let me narrow my question. The single estate cakes from ZiYu Tea Processing Factory.
Scott agrees: "2008 has proven a good year for pu-erh with ideal weather and lower "mao cha" prices. Definitely a good time to stock up on quality raw pu-erh for aging!" http://cgi.ebay.com/2008-Mengku-Old-Tre ... m153.l1262
