Drinking 2002 Yi Wu guchashu shougong bing cha (not sure about the spelling, I only know characters and read them in Japanese, and used Kanji/Hanji converter...) by Yunnanshen Jin Yu Xuan, 10g sample purchased at a local Chinatown (Yokohama) tea shop.

No bitterness at all in this shen. Mellow and relaxing flavor, and start tasting slight plum flavor at 6th infusion.

2016 Nan Nuo sheng from Chawangshop. Working on the last quarter of this tea cake. Finishing off this one before embarking on the 2016 which I started when it came out and it is patiently waiting for my attention.

YS Mu Shu Cha 2011, grandpa style

Almost zero aroma compared to yesterday LBZ
Pretty tasteless too, all is in the aftertaste which is quite strong. It starts sweet and becomes minty after a while. Length is decent.
Quite astringent.

The soup is clean, but since the first sip i am filling pesticides in the throat and tongue (i can be wrong though)

Some bitterness is showing up on round two

Energy is obvious, i start focused on my stomach and i am feeling a bit high after a few minutes, and i'll be like that for a good while, but my mind is not trying to do thousands of things at the same time like with the LBZ. Later i can feel my eyes too, well i can feel some energy in the body... strong calming energy, not class A to me but it is strong. (note that i am not drinking much puerh recently)

too astringent for now.

2017 Bangwai from Cha-Shifu. Mild and lightly sweet sheng appealing to me early in the morning.

maocha label: Wan jia shou cang 2012(?), unknown brand.
aromatic leaves (dry leaves: sour leather, gaiwan lid: santal , wet leaves: tobacco & maybe red fruits), tasteless soup at the beginning then anise, sweet & classic aftertaste that grows, has anise too. After 15 minutes the aftertaste is still there and in the mouth too: juicy, so cheeks constriction and salivation. Slow qi that makes me very clumsy and puts me in my bubble. Good surprise, that's what i like (unlike the mu shu cha of the other day)

2017 Theasophie Mangjing Jingmai and 2017 Theasophie Feral Nature Jingmai sheng pu er. The Feral Nature is a mix of wild and untended old growth. Both are excellent well rounded teas.

Spring 2017 purple cake from Xiaguan! 250g little cake. Lovely dark leaves and enticing aroma. Interestingly the aroma from the cake dropped off with HK humidity in only a few days. It was seriously aromatic when it first came in and made the air around it smell sweet!

The aroma carries into the cup and it has a lovely purple pu flavor. Very clean tea! Unfortunately it is also very bitter. I wonder how this tea will age; I think it is best consumed young as I suspect a lot of the subtlety will be lost and it'll just be a generic aged pu with time. Who knows though?

Guangyachaye '11 zhencang qingzhuan:
Their low end brick. drinkable, nothing wrong, nothing great. totally boring.

Qilinhao lbz '11 or '12 (sample):
bitter but not undrinkable. very much like the idea we have of lao man'e. there's some good vanilla along with the bitterness and the mushrooms. A discret pleasant smoke appears after a few brews. Not astringent, not very creamy either. A little juicy after a while, makes salivate a bit. The aftertaste stays in the mouth too, and for a rather long time. some freshness in the mouth. I haven't noticed any particular qi. a rather classic bitter bulang. Not my thing.

Dayi dragon pole '10:
I was afraid that it had turned into a caramel-shu like the '07 i sampled once, because i did not like it at all... Actually it hasn't changed that much, there is still a little bitterness, my stomach says it is mellower. Thin but quite pleasant.

2004 Dayi 7542, HK dry storage. I have held off on buying this cake as it smelled like the vendor's traditional storage (!), but yesterday I decided to give it a shot since the vendor's pu erh is so good.

This stuff really is dry storage; there is wildflower-like character, just a touch of mold and it has some bitterness left (balanced bitterness, even when pushed hard), but it is also well aged and smooth and easy to drink with earthy notes and even the start of some date. Damn nice example of dry storage 7542 from HK and at quite a nice price as well! Definitely site worthy and perhaps my favorite example of a commercially available dry storage mid-2000s 7542 at present. I think my home storage is slightly more to my taste since it's a tad dryer, but I could drink this 7542 every day with no complaints!
