Storing after Opening

by Nexius8510 » Feb 27th, '09, 14:15

I plan on placing an order for my first set of tuos to sample sometime today and I was just curious as to how you all store your tuos/cakes after you open them to brew. Do you just leave it in the package and wrap it up with something or what? Thanks for any and all help! :)

EDIT: Also, I was curious as to maybe a couple of everyone's favorites that would be some good starter tuos to try!

My favorite are the Xiaguan tuos that come in a nifty little cardboard box. Just wrap the remainder in the original paper and keep it in the box.

Hop had a terrific suggestion of envelopes for storing samples, but since I consider a bing to be a sample, I rewrap the bing and place it, wrapper and all, in a brown paper lunch bag, which seems to work perfectly*.

*I did this after I discovered that two dozen tea cannisters wasn't nearly enough storage space.

Sounds good! Thank you so much! I also ordered a 4 oz gaiwan to go along with them. What would be your recommendation be for how much tea to brew for 4 oz?

I would use about 6 grams, gongfu. What did you get, sheng or shu?

A general rule of thumb is 1g for every 30ml of water.
