Julia Child's Tea Stash

Some of Julia Child's favorite teas were Mark T. Wendell's HU-KWA, Cheericup Ceylon, and Formosa Oolong. Visit her kitchen at the National Museum of American History, and you'll find these blends in vintage blue, black, and gold tins. You can buy her favorites as a $25.00 tea sampler on marktwendell.com. I'm anxious to try them, especially HU-KWA. I've never experienced an unflavored oolong (such a crime, I know), so Formosa's natural peachy profile intrigues me. So, fellow steepers, what are your thoughts? Any JC fans in da tea house?

i don't know a whole lot about her, but i've done a decent amount of cooking on a commercial Garland stove range/oven remarkably similar (albeit newer) to one she apparently used:

this thing kicks serious ass. my future dream kitchen will be decked out with commercial equipment.
the stove burners alone just blow anything consumer-grade i've used out of the water.

6 star-pattern burners.. such a joy to use. really nice if you cook a lot to have so many burners, and that star pattern provides uniform heating hitting the centers of even tiny pots and pans.
Child had good taste.

sorry for rambling

Pendant,

I welcome a good ramble, especially when the topic concerns cookery. You've got good taste, too!

Interesting. Nice burners.

I know my mother knew both Julia Child and M.F.K. Fisher, in some capacity or other. I thought it was Child though who couldn't drink tea due to health reasons (avoiding caffeine or something), but liked to serve it to guests. Perhaps that restriction was later in life.
