JAS ETea's Tie Guan Yin Grade A. I'll be having some of their TGY Premium later. Maybe a little Unleaded tonight. ;)

Camellia Sinensis Cui Yu.

This may be the best offering from CS so far this year.
Clean and sweet. Yum! :)

Nice, I'm glad you're enjoying the red box oolong, debunix!

I've been trying the Adagio's Fujian TKY Masters series that I got in the OTTI the last few days.

I feel sad saying this, as it's gotten such positive reviews from everyone else, but I'm afraid it's not my cup of tea.

Where I usually find light floral oolongs to taste reminiscent of gardenia or jasmine, this particular type of floral flavor (which is quite strong, to its credit) smells exactly to me of dying assorted flowers (I smell this both in the dry tea pearls and when it has been brewed), which I used to smell when visiting the cemetery with my grandmother. It was not at all a bad experience, but the smell certainly isn't something I ever thought was appetizing, and I don't enjoy drinking it. I don't suppose I'm brewing it terribly wrong?

There seems to be a debate right now on the OTTI thread that perhaps there are two different batches of the TKY.

Camellia Sinensis Pinglin Bao Zhong this morning is tasting a little too creamy for my taste somehow. It's definitely good, but I could do without this creaminess.

I wonder if drinking so much Darjeeling is changing my taste for oolongs. With nothing really jumping out at me so far this year, I have to start wondering is it me, or the offerings?

The Cui Yu from CS is really good, 4 stars really. But not quite 5. Same with the Ali Shan Din Hu from Floating Leaves Tea. A solid 4 but ... is it a five? I'll be re-trying it a little later today.

Shan-Lin-Shi from Hou De. I'm not a huge fan of "greener" oolongs, but I really like this one! It being slightly roasted might have something to do with it ;)

I had this tea today as well. I didn't feel like using a gaiwan, so I made it in my new Gao Shan pot. I wasn't impressed. Not a bad tea by any means, but just not very interesting. I'm going to let it get over any travel shock for a week or so, and try it in the gaiwan to see if it gets significantly better.

Just finished a nice session of the Li Shan Cui Luan form Floating Leaves also (this time in the gaiwan). It was rather complex. Not too sweet, but very clean with strong notes of Shiso leaf. I liked it, but would like to see more floral or fruity notes. We'll see what a week of rest does for this one too.

I hope you're not right about the Spring 2010 teas being lackluster. I bought 100g of the Farmer's Choice Bao Zhong without testing it out only because last year's was so excellent.
