I also have greener oolongs that have not lost their pizazz. Some are still in their original bags, some are in cannisters. Don't know why they are still good after a year and other posters teas are not.

Yeah, 2.5 years for an unroasted oolong is pretty old. I've had some still be drinkable after 1.5 years, but that's really pushing it. For my really good oolongs, I tend to only purchase as much as I can drink within a 6 month period; otherwise it's a waste.

Unroasted oolong made with traditional method (more oxidation and yellower liquor than modern greener oolong) can last very well for years. If stored well, some may lose a bit flavor, but won't get stale at all. In contrast, modern style green oolong, when gets older, is just unbearable.

I´m drinking Muzha Tiequanyin from Floating Leaves Tea....it´s one of the darker roasted tiequanyin´s I´ve had...it almost tastes like yancha with lots of delicious roasty flavour :)

An interesting oolong from Yunnan Sourcing, Yunnan Wild Arbor "Oriental Beauty" from Wu Liang Mountain, a sweet, fruity, floral oolong. It feels a little light or perhaps a little thin, but I am enjoying it much more than the rose-scented Oriental Beauty I got from Ten Ren last year (most of which actually got composted rather than brewed).

Now my interest is piqued to try 'the real thing', although that may not be easy as discussed in another thread in this forum. And I have several ounces of this nice stuff to work through, so I won't need any more for quite a while.

That's almost 3.5 years.

Gingko's post is interesting. I also find the yellower liquid teas to be better in general but this may be subjective on my part. Sounds like time for a re-roast of those older teas.

Yeah, my math was bad, I was thinking more of from when I bought it. But anyway. I tried roasting some but I was impatient, and it turned out bad. So up next about 4 packages of 2007.

Today I´m trying the 2008 Taiwan Wuyi from Floating Leaves tea...it seems delicate to me with a very soft, smooth mouthfeel and a honey like sweetness...I´m really enjoying it so far (only on first infusion) :)

A decent DHP from a local vendor who doesn't sell online (Miro Tea).

Baozhong from Shan Shui! Very nice, smooth - and I think I can probably let the infusion go about another 30 secs longer next time.

Lately I've been enjoying Dong Ding from Floating Leaves in Seattle, and also some competition oolong (quite similar to the Dong Ding, if a tiny bit "greener",) from New Century Tea Gallery.
