Another guessing game

by gingkoseto » Jan 24th 10 7:06 pm

Additional notes:
Okay, let's have it run through the coming Thursday (Feb. 4), which is my weekend and also the "start of spring" day on lunar calendar :D

Gifts (samples of this tea and 2 relevant teas) will go to the first 3 good answers (or closest answers)

Leaf photo is added in the 20th post on 2nd page. :D

Additional notes:
Ok I will take some wet leaves photos later today. But overall Iet's not be too logical and mainly use your guestimation :D

About gifts, how about small amount of a few relevant teas to the first 3 people who hit the specific tea name? Let's be as specific as possible. You can change your answers before the end of the game. Everyone can take 3 guesses (because this tea is tricky :P ). If there are more than 3 answers from one person I will take the first 3 answers. :D

Original post starts here:
I am here to entertain you guys again :D

I will set up a poll for you to guess where the tea is from (which is extremely easy for many of you). But meantime, use your wild imagination and guess what this tea is, be as specific as possible about the varietal. Keep in mind that it's not possible to use logical judgment with just these photos. So this is a guessing game! (and remember I meant to make it tricky)

Looks like a regular Taiwanese oolong, it could either be a stale tea or a medium low roasted oolong. Perhaps something been sitting around for 2 years+ ? A Taiwanese TGY? If you could white balance the last photo, the color of the brew is off for anything fresh  Any gift if we are lucky enough to hit the closest answer?

I will think about gift ideas :D

My photography is problematic, and it's sometimes worsen by my lagging action since the first one may be taken in early afternoon and the last one in the evening  But these 2 photos have relatively real colors. There are a few more, I will post them too. :D

I'm guessing Taiwan. As for the cultivar, I'm not sure. Could you post a photo of a single open leaf?

I too would like to see one single leaf, wet. I'm going to go nuts and say that's it's a fo shou varietal that's from the mainland.

+1 for Taiwan, definately looks like high mountain oolong that I've had from Taiwan. Big stems and often multiple leaves per stem. Thats my guess :?: :!:

It could be a Taiwanese, soft-stem, highmountain oolong, it is not Tie Guan Yin, those have the stems removed, generally all that were produced in Anxi have no stems, and tips, and the leaf has "teeth", judging from the color of the brew it is lightly oxidized, around 25%, it can be anything from Li Shang to Shanlingxi, even Dong Ding (modern style).
