Re: Oolong category
There isn't a single, definitive guide that I know of. You would do best to just do research on the internet about the different types of oolong.
Try Google searching "oolong varieties" or "oolong types". Most online vendors that specialize in oolongs (even ones that don't) will give you some info about varietals and growing regions. There are a lot of things that differentiate one oolong from another, so the best thing you can do if you want to learn is just read about what makes oolongs different from one another.

Re: Oolong category
There are far more classifications than location and shape - varietals, leaf color, fragrance, oxidation and roasting levels, quality gradations, ... at the end of the day each tea is a different animal - just google, visit online stores and more important - start drinking oolongs. IMO it's a waste of time to absorb information on Wuyi or Phoenix oolongs if in the end you don't like them in person - the proof is in the cup, not the blurb. Most vendors offer affordable sample packs, an excellent starting point if you ask me.alix wrote:There are a classification for location and for shape.
