Help with oolong purchasing

by Terrasi » Feb 27th, '09, 00:49

A friend of mine made me jealous. She told me about her Taiwanese tea class and all the teas she got to try.

It got me thinking, I haven't tried anything new in a long time.

Where is the best place to get a variety of oolongs? (Website, not "Travel to Thailand":D) Taiwanese would be nice, since I've thus far preferred them, but Chinese oolongs are great too.

I would prefer samples, if possible. I've already had everything on Adagio.

Please help me try as many oolongs as I can.

Check out the responses in this thread:

I would first try to hone in on a general style (or a couple of general styles) you like, and work from there.

I think www.teafromtaiwan.com is the way to go with Taiwanese oolongs. You can get two different sample sets containing most of their teas.

The teafromtaiwan.com will help you to find best quality oolong teas in the world. You can try talbottteas.com also they offers a wide variety of flavors like Blueberry Peach Passion, Clara's Tea, Luscious Lemon Meringue, Green Tea Heaven, Cocoa Cardamom Seduction, etc. I loved the Clara's Tea and Cocoa Cardamom Seduction most. Try them and see and for oolong go for the Taiwan samples.

For Taiwanese teas, the following are good places to start:

Hou De
Floating Leaves
J-Tea
Tea From Taiwan

EDIT: I notice that the Floating Leaves online store is closed at the moment. Hopefully it's back up again soon.
