Shiuwen of http://www.floatingleaves.com/

I've heard some good things, although I have no personal experience buying from her.
We were fated to pretend.

Shiuwen didn't even bring back a Ali Shan this 2009 spring harvest. She said she just didn't find one that was good enough to carry. Last harvest (2008 winter) wasn't the greatest for Ali Shan either but her Ali Shan A from then is ok but pricey.

The Shan Lin Xi from FLT this year is ok, not super great, but certainly up to her high standards. I found it to be surprisingly long lasting too. My favorite FLT Gao Shan from this harvest is the Li Shan, but I think the 2008 Li Shan 'A' is probably a better value and I think a better tea although it is probably on the light and sublte side for most people. The 2009 spring Da Yu Ling is good too, but again I think the 2008 Li Shan 'A' is a better value (just my opinion of course).

I was hoping you would jump in Tenuki.

I guess it kind of depends on the level of your friend's
AliShan devotion. For me it's probably the ultimate,
so I'm very top end and demanding. The best tea for someone
like me, would be the 2009 LiShan. Excellent.

If she is mid range, then Tenuki's recommendations
on the 2008's would be fine and they are on sale.

She also might like this Baozhong from Hou De:

thanx for the recommendations!
she only tried one kind of alishan which she got from a friend in taiwan, but tried a lot of diffrent oolongs and kept reminding me that that alishan was the best tea she ever had.. i'm thinking mid range is ok since she's not that of a connaisseur yet.

Spring 2009 is a bit lighter than Winter 2008 for Taiwan Gaoshans. While still good, the latter has proved more enjoyable to me especially the Da Yu Ling, which I love. All from teafromtaiwan. All organic they claim.
