by Chip » Oct 15th 13 11:54 pm

Welcome everyone to TeaDay. I am looking forward to reading about your possibly NEW favorite tea of the year.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic asks if you have you discovered a new absolute favorite tea ... whether it is a class, type, or even a specific selection? Please divulge! If you are a newbie, then have you made a new discovery recently?

Please share the details, I am interested in seeing if our 'vets' have their heels dug in on Old Favorites or have continued expanding their horizons!

It will be great sharing TeaDay with everyone today! Brew on ...
:D

Sept. '12 I started drinking Thailand red oolong (posting 4 X in thread w/ the long, full name), & over the year the tea firmly established itself as my favorite.
I ask others, what makes their favorite teas their favorites?
Each cup of this tea gives me a few flavors that I always like w/o anything I really dislike, even w/ sloppy preparation. I've been short of $; so, I also value its low price.
For your favorite?

I've grown so fond of Assams from Taiwan this year that I now have a large cup almost every afternoon.

To answer ethan's question, my favorites are the ones that I feel have a lot of character (taste, smell, look) and that I get cravings for the most. I really have several favorites, but I've been hooked on those Assams for the past few months now.

I can't say I have an absolutely favorite new tea, nor do I have an absolutely favorite old tea. Tea-omnivore that I am, I love a variety of teas, and the variety is part of the love. After some days or weeks of a particular tea being in heavy rotation because I want to use up those green oolongs briskly, or I left the package out near the tea kettle and it's just so darn nice to enjoy a perfect deep-roast oolong, I crave something different, and that first cup of sencha or puerh or white tea seems just divine, but it's really one of many favorites.

I would really need to think about my favorite. I have a lot that I am comfortable with and enjoy drinking often. But favorite? Not quite sure.

Oh yeah, this is my tea day so far:
