Revitalitizing Tea(Day) 3/3/15

by Chip » Mar 3rd, '15, 15:34

Many TeaDays ago, TeaDay was the gateway of activity on TeaChat. For many, newbies and veterans alike, it was the first stop on the forum in the morning. A casual, friendly place to share your first tea of the day with other TCers.

Many of our newbies expressed the comfort afforded and ease of posting here without fear of looking like a "newbie" to tea in general .lol.

It was a place to see what types of teas were most popular and an interesting place to get to know one another through tea.

So for those of you interested, come on in and sit at the TeaTable for a spell. The chairs are comfy and the tea is delicious, and the chat is relaxed.

SOOO, what is in your cup, this TeaDay?

The poll is very simple, which tea will reign supreme today?

I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone.

Yippee, I have been battling a weird stomach virus the last few days and have not had much luck eating or drinking. Today was the first day in 3 that I was able to enjoy some Japanese green tea with Chip.

He brewed the Sae Midori in our tortoise pot and we drank out of an unmatched pair of Hagi cups. Great way to start the day.

A little late, but I am going to brew #2. Aoi asamushi. Perhaps my personal fave sencha of this harvest year.

Karigane Ikkyu no Sato from Maiko Tea for me :) This just arrived yesterday, and I ordered 300g so it will be making frequent appearances in my teadays

first impressions are that it's a light refreshing tea with some nice umami and sweetness. thumbs up

This is coming just after finishing a 3 day session of 8582 so it's a nice change of pace.

Today was a pu'erh day, with not enough time to explore anything else. A 2003-ish tea with some surprising qualities. And I think I'll continue to enjoy the same pot tomorrow....! :D

Working through a 2014 FF Darjeeling sample from Margaret's Hope (DJ-16) via Teabox. A complimentary sample, thankfully, as it is proving to be rather insipid.

Best wishes,
sherubtse

An almost all-oolong tea day today: started with some interesting 'green' Dancong from YS--nice but not as amazing as a well-roasted version; then a few brews from the tail end of a sample of Bai Mao Hou green tea from Norbu from last spring, typically green and vegetal; then a brewed-on-the-run dump of some SeaDyke TKY into my thermos for afternoon clinic; and finally enjoying a few brews of a very nice green oolong from Taiwan whose detailed identity is hidden in the mostly chinese text of the label: it was part of my Christmas gift, and my friend said he just asked the shop proprietor for 'the best you have'. It seems like a really nice spring high mountain oolong, and while some of the sweetness is going off after being opened for 2 months, it's still very very nice.

So today's clear winner is 'oolong', light and dark styles.

Laochatou ripe puercha from White2tea. It's what I like to casually drink in the late evenings, because the tea's effects on me are quite mild. Just a simple way to enjoy the cup of tea before me and not worry too much about my brewing.

Great idea, I always liked this thread!

I started the day with some Assam Orthodox with breakfast, followed by a few cups of Organic Asanoka Sencha. I'm looking forward to a big session with 2014 Mangjing puerh from Bannacha during work...

This morning I had a good session with Tra Sen Lotus green tea from Tan Cuong and for lunch I am now having loose pu'er tea from Cup of Tea in UK.

Aoi asamushi. This had been open a month but is seemingly as good as when first opened.

Vibrant, deep, full bodied, umami, veggies. This will "fix all" ... a saying I have. Having a bad day, "let's have tea, it will fix all!"
