Fanatical Monday and TeaDay 7/14/08

by Chip » Jul 14th, '08, 02:57

Yesterday, most TeaChatters indicated that they match their tea with an appropriate teapot. You can still vote and discuss this topic.

Welcome everyone to TeaDay, let's brew and share what is in our cups today...all day!

Today's TeaDay Poll is dedicated to TeaChat's most posted topic. It is quickly approaching 100 pages and 1,500 posts. It has obviously become very popular for the teaware geeks...and the teaware geek wannabes like myself. It is also a great resource guide to see what is out there in the market place.

For a few months now, there have been rumbles about whether to start a new topic and retire the old one, which would remain available for members and visitors to read but no longer post under. I think the old one became somewhat sacred and nobody wanted to be the one to attempt starting a new topic.

As the topic was approaching this milestone, Victoria approached me just as I was contemplating this as well, so I decided it was time to decide. It seemed best to take it to the people in a TeaDay poll...let all the members have the opportunity to "officially" vote and discuss this subject...and decide in the fairest way possible once and for all!

This has taken on a bit of a life of its own. So, today, in addition to sharing our cups of tea, vote on whether to replace the current topic with a new one. this poll will be open for 45 hours in order to give everyone a chance to vote. Simple majority rules.

No, unless it causes technical problems. At the current rate of one page per day we would have a new topic every four months if it is chosen to start a new one.

I am in favor of a new second thread - this one is getting very hard to navigate!
I say bring on the SEQUEL!

Pots and Cups II - the teaware saga continues!

Happy Bastille Day!

A perfect day for the Tour de France to climb Tourmelet and Hautacam Mountains. It is always great to see the best climbs on this day as the fans are even more festive than normal!

As Moderator, I am not offering my 2 Yen worth at this time...but I did vote.

Another little "something" from your backyard? Wow, that is so cool.

Happy Bastile Day to Olivierco! My kids had the speakers under the computer turned way up! Our neighbor friend is in France at this moment with "People to People".

I am just waking up with coffee and preparing some of my "Year of Mellowness" samples to take to work. I believe it's going to be a Pu Ehr day.

Sure, start something new...

No tea this morning yet. I'm sitting in a hotel lobby using their machine. I'll head up to the room in a bit and see what to brew.

Joyeuse Fête Nationale! The "survol" of the Champs Elysees was just amazing - the weather was great too. Sarko is a real specialist at good PR (although inviting Syria has angered some, lol).

For more on the commemoration of one of the most important dates in modern history of the Western society, visit http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7505157.stm

As I drink my tea from white cups bought at Ikea (design: Susan Pryke) and have never posted any pics, I feel a moral obligation to abstain from today's poll. However, I feel delighted that TeaChat has embraced and continues to promote the same values as the ones they are commemorating in France today.

Vive la France!

This is not starting out as a good tea day. My better half made tea with some teabags in the cabinet...vile stuff, had to pour it out. I don't know if it was lousy tea to begin with, or just old. Then my favorite blue mug hit the floor and the handle shattered. Oddly, the mug itself only sustained a chip out of the side.

So...vile drink, badly damaged mug, scalded leg/foot from hot tea. :?

Should I go back to bed now, or should I start over with some good tea?
Although my neighbors are all barbarians,
And you, you are a thousand miles away,
There are always two cups on my table.

Oh, the glamorous life you jet setters live, going from one five-star hotel or South Georgia villa to another!

... unless ... you're not on the lamb, are you?

They are really easy to grow from seed, Augie, but unfortunately I don't have any in my yard this year. I actually snuck out in the middle of the night and stole these from my subdivision's common plantings. Oh, my shame!

Mmm, Taste of Mellowness, I may have to brew up some Changtai Banna later today at work. BTW, Omegapd, there are a couple samples of those samples going out in today's mail to you.

Sal, that is the coolest plant ever. If I didn't think my kitties would eat it up then puke it all over the carpet, I would have to run out and get one. But they would so I'm going to content myself with staring at your pic.

I voted yes, as long as "replace" means "start a new one and lock the old one". I don't want the old one going away but it would be nice to have something easier to navigate.

Drinking "A Party in My Pants" today, thanks to kymidwife. Not a huge fan of the banana in it, but I forgot about the last little bit in there and end up drinking it at room temp and that was good, so think I might try it as an iced tea.

Kitty is doing okay-ish this morning. My parents stopped by yesterday to see her and they are convinced that she's had a stroke. Actually, it seems pretty likely. Anyway, her spirits are good and she's purring a lot, even though she's still not eating. She's doing a lot better today than I thought she'd be. We'll see what the vet says this afternoon.
