Nice pouchong, BronzeBed.

Had a rather ordinary Tie Kuan Yin King from the Expo.

thanks chip & salsero. sorry about my hand in the pic. got this tea from my local tea shop. he sells some of the best quality teas i've seen in a tea shop. Here's a link to the shop: http://holsome.com. Doesn't look like he sells much tea online but the store has at least 100 different teas.

And you call yourself a newbie? 5 out of 10!

Here is a link for Monkey King for your amusement, a very amazing green tea. IF you like green, you should at least try 25 grams. The Cha Wang version is actually worth the added cost. Besides, CHIP TOLD YOU TO!
Monkey King Green Tea!
Oh, what trouble I will get into here...I'll have to watch out for you! ;) Thanks for the link--never been to that site before, and there are so many I'd like to try! I think I'll try tea spring for my next order, but I have to wait a spell to use up what I have sitting here right now.

In my cup: Iced assam:candy apple mix (candy apple is old, i didn't like it much, and figured it could find second life in iced teas). Incidentally, I'm now addicted to my iced ingenuitea pot. This thing is awesome--I'm sorry I didn't buy it years ago. I've been going through a pitcher of iced tea a day!

Hi, Salsero--I've been seeing your photos all over the forums--very nice. :)

Bronzebed--now I want some pouchong! Maybe my next cup...

I've had 5 out of 10 and those are:

1. Long Jing
2. Huang Shan Mao Feng
3. Yin Zhen
4. Tie Guan Yin
5. Wuyi Rock oolong

Today I had some Darjeeling Risheehat first flush after breakfeast and some Jun Chiyabari Himalayan Jade oolong after dinner. Gotta finish the Darjeelings soon :)

Taking a well deserved break from kitchen duty. Spent the day cooking & cleaning for a dinner party. Anybody wanna come help w/dishes?

On an tea related note, may have converted a friend to loose leaf tea. :D I served Adagio's White Peach tea w/dessert since one of the guests was caffiene sensitive. She loved it! Sent her home w/a sample of it & a few TeaSacs. Think I may send her a gift certificate!

Better get back to work. Unfortunately, my dishwasher won't load itself.

The last cup of the day - Meghma Oolong from Nepal.
It, like my previous cup today, was also uninspiring.

Sorry to hear that, Victoria!

Generally Indian region oolong just seems like lighter Indian region black to me. And then the greens seem simply lighter yet. China has done a better job creating tastes that are so different from black to oolong to green. But they have had a head start.

Finishing the TeaDay with Japanese farmer tea. I still can't quite fully appreciate the first steep, but the next 4 are good.

7 of 10 for me. I haven't yet tried Fur Tip, Fur Peak or Monkey King.

My online access has been out so I'm behind on the forum. Interesting question, Chip.

Hope everyone had a nice tea weekend.

They were brewed precisely accurately in the hands of the oolong queen, thank you very much. But I'll be happy to forward them to you to enjoy.

I'm sadly only 3/10 on the chinese tea scale. I just don't know what it is, but I just can't get behind some of these teas in the same way I get behind Japanese teas.

What would the Japanese scale look like?
  • Sencha
    Gyokuro
    Matcha
    Genmaicha
    Kukicha
    Saki...
Oops, maybe that's the poll for tomorrow.

By the way Tea Scale, Fiorinia theae Green (Insecta: Hemiptera: Diaspididae) is not something we joke about in Florida.

I've tried 5 of the 10. Of the 5, wuyi oolong is my fave. Now I'm really curious about the ones I haven't tried. Some were things I hadn't even heard of, but who wouldn't want to find out more about a tea called "Monkey King Green," for instance?

In my cup: Giving my new adagio mambo sample its first try.
Jump right in! Welcome! :)

Sounds like you are well on your TeaWay!

Light TeaDay or me yesterday. Only my Yunnan Gold. Will make up for it today!
