Love that father and son Hokujo pots are together
Hope to see them soon on teachat so that we can virtually enjoy
great great pots...
Thank you, Victoria. I'm the proud new owner.
I was really only interested in the Hokujo but when I saw the Takayuki, I knew they needed to be re-homed as a family.
They weren't even mine and I already miss them. Hope you can post photos together. What will you steep in them? I love Hokujo for roasted oolongs.
I haven't decided yet what to steep in them but I'm thinking fukas for the Hokujo. I usually use the Hohryu pot (my first!) I bought from Hibiki-an years ago because it filters so well; I might let a friend have the use of it. His tea consumption is limited to genmai-cha and it's a capacious pot but I'll miss its light weight (I'm a sucker for thin walls), so maybe not. We'll see . . .
I imagine I'll use the Takayuki for gyokuro, even though I have a nice shibori-dashi from Thés du Japon. I have several nice Chinese pots for oolongs, including a Chao Zhu pot I bought from Imen several years ago (unfortunately, I haven't seen any listed since--I think they're prone to breakage during shipping), so FWIW my kyusu remain dedicated to Japanese tea, although it's probably somewhat limiting on my part.
(Hey, I'm old--I've earned the right to be narrow-minded!)
