F1 yixing and old hagi

by steanze » Jan 14th, '17, 15:55

I am trying to reduce my teaware collection letting go a few pieces.

First up on offer is a late 1960s Factory 1 hongni shuiping, thin walls, flat base, 67ml capacity. These pots are made of the same clay as the early 1960s 6 character shuipings and cost less than 2/3 of the price. It's one of the few pots that outperform gaiwans on dancongs, thanks to the very thin walls that lead to a steep rise in temperature after steeping releasing aromatics, and cooling down more rapidly in between steeps without overcooking the leaves. They are also my go-to for yancha because they do not mute the complexities of the flavor and emphasize the mineral notes, and I use one for young sheng as well. That is probably why I ended up with a bit too many, and since I don't use all of them I decided to sell one.

Second is an old guinomi (est. late 19th century), with a grey hagi glaze, capacity of 110ml. This size holds the entire contents of a small pot, so I use it sometimes when I drink alone and I don't want to bother using a pitcher.

I am letting this one go for $50.

I will include a sample of 1980s iron cake sheng puerh and a sample of (good) dahongpao with each. I will calculate shipping costs depending on your location, I expect shipping to be in the ballpark of $10.

Just out of curiosity how much did the Yixing go for? Curious to know the value of a simple (but good clay) F1 pot from this era.
