I love Kintsugi. My dream pot would be a Japanese-Chinese hybrid of a gong fu put, but repaired with silver or gold seams.

You're right, but when I loaded the page, the current bid read "218,500 USD". So you can see why I made such a conclusion.Drax wrote:Um, unless if I've forgotten something (or missing something), some European countries reverse the use of commas and decimals for numbers when compared to how we use them in America. So 200,00 is actually 200.00 (or two hundred).
Then again, the seller has set a reserve limit, but I don't see anything that says what the reserve mark is. So I suppose it could be set in the hundreds of thousands range....
So meanwhile, who's going to go for the cup??
If there were only two zeros after the comma, or if the currency were EUR instead, obviously the price would not be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Thanks tom! that makes things much clearer to me. It's odd to me to have the European decimal notation system denoting a value in USD.

the joseon tea bowl made reserve and sold for US $649.60. I wouldn't mind drinking tea out of it, but it is a bit rich for my pocket. Compared to the price of other pieces of that vintage, it seemed a bargain for someone tho. So, who from here picked it up

This looks about right. I am sad I couldn't afford such a bowl : my cat would have loved to drink his milk from it !

I saw this oil spot bowl on ebay - it really is stunning, my idea of a dream in clay. From the favorite MAGOKORODO - a snip at US $5,625.00, the free shipping clinches the deal.

Very similar to the bowl by the same artist with which I inaugurated this topic....and fortunately for the budget, there are some smaller works that are more affordable, though I still daydream of one of those gorgeous big chawans, where Suzuki has a much larger canvas on which to work his magic....
