Want to buy Chawan

by annebonnie » Jan 13th, '13, 18:23

Hello TeaChatters,

I ask for a friend new to tea&pottery. He wants to have a handmade chawan, and maybe a tray/saucer/plate underneath for it. Both new& used is okay.

The colours he likes is blue to pale turquise (seladon) and black (has to go well with oak furniture... he is a carpenter). Black should be matte and the blueish kind would be lovely with visible craquelee. Decoration only abstract and few. The shape he likes in all cases is cylindric. Please think of his huge carpenter hands ;)

Maybe a piece of your collection wants to find a new cozy home?
Any tips for me where to search, personal recommondations etc... are also very welcome.

Thank you for your help in advance :)

Oh, one of our TeawareArtisans Petr Novak is doing a transluscent blue that allows the very sandy clay to be seen through the glaze which is often quite full of crackles. Quite unusual and striking.

Then his partner does amazing trays with a matching clay.

He can also do custom piece including larger size and prefered shape!

He is in CR so shipping would be pretty inexpensive to Germany.

Here is his TA topic on TeaChat. http://www.teachat.com/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=12296

and so has Bill from Split-fire pottery

and I've got of couple of lovely blues from another potter whose work has often been featured here on teachat, Yamane Seigan (a lot of his work is available from Magokorodo on Ebay, and from Artistic Nippon)
