Hi All! I have been meaning to introduce myself here in this amazing forum for awhile! I am enjoying the wealth of information that is available for me here...My ceramics and art is an expression of my inspiration of nature and earth...I love working with the earth in my garden and creating using earth as a medium. I create all of my glazes in my home studio...in my garden I grow much of my own ingredients for teas. I am currently exploring the use of recycled glass in my earth and water series of tea ware. All of my pieces are completely food, dishwasher and microwave safe with the exception of my raku pieces. I also enjoy yoga, cooking, painting, reading and meditating. I sell my work online at my etsy shop...www.elmstudios.etsy.com
I just unloaded a kiln load with quite a few chawans, so here are a couple of pics!

Hi Cory, yes I collect used glass bottles and crush them up...I am starting to play now with incorporating more than one color to get a different effect, such as the picture I posted today.

sometimes the glass will suddenly 'pop' apart...
my good friends do glass, and they warned me about this fact.

Welcome Ericka! I am also a proud owner of one of your pieces and so glad you finally took us up on our many invitations that you join us here on TeaChat.
I've been the happy owner of this piece since June... it's absolutely striking.

Now I naturally feel compelled to go check out your shop and see what's new!
Again, the warmest of welcomes!

thanks for all the warm welcomes! Cory, I personally have never had a problem with the different glasses as of yet, but I tend to use one type of glass, that has different color variations...but as with all art, it is a continuous exploration and evolution....I have been playing with glass in the bottom ofmy pieces for years and have tested them through my dishwasher and microwave without problems for many years....so hopefully this will remain

Hey Ericka, don't forget those of us who prefer smaller cups, too!!! There was a good size discussion under Colorado pu's topic. Let me link it for you since you came in a bit late.elmstudios wrote:sarah, I loved your yunomi so much! I want to make more with that larger size and organic shape! it just glows in sunlight! I absolutely adore your work, especially anything with glass at the bottom. It's so rustic and reminds me of the sea. The greens and blues are so vivid!
I can't wait to get the mug and bowl I just ordered, actually.
