Two recent additions, now have 5 Elmstudios pieces! These two are really quite stunning, dramatic. Clearly the glaze is beautiful, but the glass brings both of these to life.

Hello All! Here I finally am! I cannot seem to get my e-mail notification working properly here so I have no idea when new posts in reference to my posts come up...hmmmmmm...forgive me if I am not responding properly, I am still figuring this out...

However, there are many issues here obviously, and I am sure I will not answer them all...but for me at least, I am very fortunate to have a close stained-glass artist friend in my town who gives me all of her beautiful scraps! I know exactly the brand and source of this glass, as it is from a major glass supplier and there is absolutely no lead whatsoever in them. I have played around myself with wine bottles that I have collected...new ones mind you so there would be no lead content. I NEVER use old or antique glass as I do not really want to get into the uncertainties of the glass' properties as far as firing goes.

Someone did mention the ring that sometimes forms around the edges of the pooled glass. This happens with any glass as a reaction to the particular glaze chemicals, sort of a crystalization. I actually like it a lot and try to encourage it on many of my pieces...

I personally fire my pieces with a certain firing schedule that has been working to really fuse the glass and form a nice smooth surface above the crackled glass. If I do feel any defects in any of the surface of my pieces, and that goes for the ceramic part as well..they are tossed into my seconds.

I will try to respond via quotes to some of the other questioned addressed...ericka

Ericka, the email notification has not been functioning properly on the forum for quite some time. It is a bit of a sore spot for members, understandably so. Sorry for the inconvenience, I have been after the admin to fix the problem forever.

Thanks for the input on your works. Your works are absolutely gorgeous! These last 2 bowls are jaw droppers.

Now if you could increase the size slightly ... and maybe the depth a tad ... around 4.75" wide for verticle side pieces and a bit bigger still for tapered sides. They are just a bit small for whisking matcha effectively.

If recycled, how can one know?
I responded to this in another thread, but for others who may not see it, I would like to respond here as well. The recycled glass that I use are scraps from a stained-glass artist friend of mine...they are all her trimmings that she has no use for...lucky for me! The are all from a major glass supplier and are all new glass ( from the last 5-10 years). I do occaissionally play with a unique colored wine bottle or so, but I buy them myself, so I know where it is coming from. I would never use antique glass of an unknown origin.

okay, I see that I am unknowingly repeating myself now, time to shut up :)

Chip...will keep the size request in mind next time I am throwing! Someone had asked me for smaller tea bowls awhile back, guess I just need to make ALL sizes!

Yes, Ericka, that would be me! These are too small for matcha and too large for tea. Since I have a lot of matcha bowls, I'd like some smaller sizes. So yes, get busy!! Make both!!! :)

Hello Ericka - I just received my new tea cup from you today and it is beautiful! I will have to wait to take some photos this weekend in natural light - cannot capture it good now.

I got it off of etsy (bronze ochre bowl amber recycled glass tea cup bowl).

Just wanted to say thanks and that I am very happy with my purchase.
