Jeff Guerrero Ceramics

by Guerrero » Sep 18th 15 3:29 am

Hi, and thanks for the opportunity to be a part of this forum.

I'm a potter and a tea enthusiast from Pittsburgh, PA. I study Japanese tea ceremony and have my beginner's license through Urasenke Philadelphia. I also study the Japanese language.

My favorite forms are chawan and yunomi, though I also enjoy making teapots, guinomi, mugs, dining and serving dishes, and more. You can see my work at http://www.guerreroceramics.com

I typically have a variety of pieces available for purchase at http://www.etsy.com/shop/guerreroceramics and I post a lot of process photos, as well as finished work, on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

I'll finish my introduction with a few photos. Thanks in advance for taking a look.

I just bought a shino cup from you, as you can see below! I really like it, thanks! I think it is a good idea you come here, this seems your kind of place.

Oh, thank you all!

Inge, I'm honored. Your work is incredible.

bintuborg, it's because of you that I'm here. Someone saw your cute kitty photo post and sent it to me, with a recommendation that I join this forum. So thank you!

Here's one of my recent wood/salt-fired chawan.

Jeff,

I'm happy you joined and that I was able to order the chawan in photo #2. I think its going to look beautiful sitting next to my Seong-il gaiwan on my tea tray.

Thank you, again, JRS22! And wow, what a beautiful gaiwan. They are fairly difficult to make properly, and in my limited experience, difficult to use properly.

I made just a few, and gave one to a new friend, who it turns out picked tea as a child in China's Fujian Province. Compared to my clumsy treatment, when she used it to make and pour tea for me, it was like watching an artist at work.

So glad to see you made it here, Jeff! I was using one of your chawan today, a wood-fired beauty (with a teapot from Shimizu Ken):

Wow, thank you shooglen. And what a gorgeous teapot! One day I hope I can make one nearly as nice as Mr. Shimizu's.

Here is one of my recent kyusu, wood/salt-fired.
