The article points out the main issue...

correlation != causation

!= means "does not equal" for those not versed in such lingo...

Tea consumption may cause prostate cancer, monkeys may fly out of my butt! The BBC has stooped to a new low after years of dumbing down.

We have yet to see if the study is of publication quality and makes its way to some journal.
I think I saw it mentioned somewhere in the telegraph article that it could be just survivors effect.
"Men who are heavy tea drinkers are more likely to develop prostate cancer" might be just
"Men who are heavy tea drinkers are more likely to (live longer to reach prostate cancer riskier age) to develop prostate cancer".

The risk of prostate cancer has been proved to be correlated to age, and jumps up rapidly with aging.

Basic logic says that if this were true, there should an absolutely rampant incidence of prostate cancer in China when compared to the rest of the world. Should be easy to track.

i read somewhere, i remember were i read it but it was on the ned. That if you already have cancer green tea makes it grow faster but if you don't have it it helps prevent it.

But i honestly believe they never have the numbers of people and the oversight to make those studies really reliable.

Anti-oxidants can shield cancer cells from chemo.
Mostly from supplements including green tea extract.
Discuss any supplements you take with your oncologist.
In addition heavy consumption of tea or coffee can lead to malabsorption issues with iron and can make problems with anemia worse and anemia is a common problem with chemo.
