Can someone give me a good guide for brewing good tea in larger quantities?

by cubby208 » Jan 14th 17 4:29 am

Hello! I am an enthusiast tea brewer. I have about 40 varieties (most I am just trying) of teas stocked inside my house. I am obsessed with trying new ones and learning how to brew individual teas.

My friends just found out about my collection and are now insisting I host a tea party (to which I obliged).

My panic is I only am good at brewing cups of tea. When it comes to larger quantities I have no clue how to mess with temperature, amount of tea, time, or size of strainer in order to get everything right. I was hoping for some tips.

Any guides would be appreciated.

I found out that most of my friends did not know what most of the genres of tea were so my goal is to brew enough of one of each of the main tea types so they can sample each. Then maybe let them choose and brew an additional one that sounds good to them. My thing is I know there are limits to how much a person can drink so I need a good way to do samples of teas.

When I have guests over I usually stack my infusions so everyone is served at the same time. You might want to experiment with leaf/water proportions before hand though. I have found you can't simply increase leaf/water volume/time proportionately.

About 10 people. However they are only going to have samples of each.

By the way this is a nice post, from Everyone's Tea, that got me stacking infusions in order to serve several guests. It's for sencha but the concept can be applied to any tea;
