Official what White/Yellow are you drinking right now?

White and yellow teas are among the most subtle.

Forgot to rinse again, but I think the same Fuding Shou Mei White Tea cake benefited from better measuring. I bought a thermometer and a digital scale with a tare function and used both this time. Got a hint of raisin from the tea after brewing as close to 5g at 203° F as I could get. Much improved over the first try at brewing.

Just opened a shipment from Teavivre and brewed up some "Premium White Peony." Two grams tare weight per the scale with 12oz at 185°F for 6 min 30 seconds.

I didn't steep it long enough. Hard to tell what kind of flavors are coming through.

Any brewing suggestions (Western style)?

Eight minutes with the same leaves helped immensely. I got a smooth cup with muted citrus notes and a sweet, almost creamy top. Just the thing for our first official freeze of the year here in the D/FW area.

I'm having Bai Mu Dan right now, love it. It's probably my favorite tea...
As far as I know this is the best source and price for quality, organic Silver Needle: https://www.californiateahouse.com/orga ... ver-needle

lifnord et.al., I am surprised by lifnord's parameters: use of far too little leaves & far too much time. Also, I would not rinse white tea. For temperature, white tea has quite a range, from 160F to 200F; so, .... White is for delicacy. Light in body while tasty, is what I want from it. That is a tall order; so, most white tea is a disappointment. Weather can easily stop a season from having tea appropriate for use as white tea; yet, sometimes this does not stop harvest & sales of such tea for white for some farmers & producers. They often sell their worst tea at high prices. (If one is willing to sell bad tea, one is willing to charge a lot for it; I suppose.)
The vendor in Nepal who sells white tea to me on a wholesale basis, contacts me about once a year, when he finds a good one.
Organic white tea does not need to be so expensive.
I got my last order 2 weeks ago and have delivered to my regular customers. I have 2 packs of 100-grams available for others. Cheers

I'm drinking a Hou Shan Yellow Bud for the first time. I still have trouble distinguishing this from a green tea though. It kind of tastes like a roasted green tea, like Dragon Well.

Huo Shan Huang Ya Yellow Tea that I have tasted. When properly brewed, this exotic tea has a light and pleasantly sweet and thick flavor, with grassy notes and hints of umami.

Please Help! I received packets of tea that brew up as a bright yellow. I can't read Chinese, so I don't know what kind of tea it is!

I'm not currently drinking it, but I really love Verdanttea's 2016 Shou Mei - i oddly prefer it to be aged only a few years, i feel it produces a subtle floral flavor with a bit of a syrupy sweetness.
Has anybody had dragonteahouse's Shou Mei? I'm tempted to try it.
