White and yellow teas are among the most subtle.

Trader Joe's White Tea substitute

by MrsKryten » Dec 14th, '08, 11:15

Greetings,

I'm fairly new to tea--especially white tea--and I would like to find a white tea similar in flavor to that of the white tea Trader Joe's used to sell (which they apparently have discontinued). I had a bunch of these tea bags lying around and finally got around to trying them. I really enjoyed the delicate flavor and hint of sweetness in the evening. Now they're all gone! I tried Twinings White Tea but did not care for it.

If anyone has tried the Trader Joe's white tea and can recommend a substitute good (or a white tea that sounds similar in flavor to what I've described) please share.

Cheers!

Welcome! I believe the main tea was Silver Needle, but from Inko's site for their bottled white tea, they say they add ginger. So you might try a good grade Silver Needle and try adding a little bit of crystaled ginger to it.
