Today i cleaned my swords, and while they were totally clean i saw something in the tachi i never saw before. It has a mokume, itame and some masame grain, but today i saw the hada so super clearly the mokume, like small wood structures really stood out in the sunlight and i was just blow away
But unfortunately after checking out the photo's it doesn't show up clearly in there.
Also from a book i have about early swords, and mainly the development of the curve, there is one tachi listed as Hoju and after a little searching online i found this blade that is somewhat similar to the one in the book (i couldn't find the exact one). Today, i found the following book on my desk at work, which really made my day.
Its the new catalogue of Yushuto blades by the NTHK (i think it includes all Yushuto level blades from the last 3/4 years) - including my daisho!
Very enthusiastically i went through the plates list this morning at work, and to my greatest surprise it even included works by Masamune (all time legendary smith), and of several of his students, and even a Yoshihiro Go katana (there's a saying in Japan which equates work by Go with seeing a ghost (you hear about them but you never see one!)). Very exciting to have my blades featured in the same book:)
