Actually it seems that now, and maybe before, one or the other of the icons works. If there's a 'lightbulb' clicking on that brings me to the first unread post. If there's no lightbulb clicking on the envelope icon does the same. I'm not sure if it was always this way, but I am sure its frustrating to people who don't take the time to figure it out (and why should they?).

The envelope icons simply don't work when I click on them in Firefox on my Mac. I have to click sort of near but not on them.

So still a problem.

On a related subject, have we lost Chip....? Stalking his user profile has shown the occasional login but last active date has often been a week or so in the past(currently May 2nd). No posts in over a month and not doing his usual things like clearing out sold items in teaswap. Anyways, hope he's just off having fun.

Thank you for noticing, pizzapotamus. Still here ... like many I have been frustrated over the complete makeover and needed to step back and assess. I will be gracious and leave it at that. I have been and will continue to discuss the interests of TeaChat with Adagio ...

On a tea related subject, I just received my first Shincha of 2016, opened it up, brewed, and savored the moment!
... more shincha to come hopefully tomorrow. Hope to order from a few more vendors.

I believe I removed that topic and user deleted ...

Before the "change", a lot was done to prevent spam on the forum on the front end of things ... preventing potential spammers and bots from joining and being activated. (before that, TeaChat was a wild west of spam and it was a constant battle staying just a step behind them ... oh my ... the spam and porn that would get posted).

In the post change era (today), a lot of the precautions keeping spammers and bots from registering in the first place have been ... lost. So, many registrations currently have to be checked out by hand (yours truly), one by one. It is laborious, time consuming, and imperfect. Hopefully, in addition to many other items, the safeguards will be returned.

Ok, oddly I posted with my android under the Spam forum of TeaChat, hit submit, and a banner came up that my post had to be approved by a moderator ... really?

So I approved my post as mod. Not sure if Adagio was playing with the post settings or what. I will have to check it out on my pc later today.

So at the risk of being a pest, it's been quite some time and we haven't heard anything from Vanderleaf or Michael about fixing the rest of the things that were broken with the forum upgrade. Are they still working on this? Or are we just doing to be stuck with this 'downgrade' in forum functionality instead? :(

the technology isn't there yet

wait until the next upgrade

edit: actually whatever i'm basically satisfied with the current state of the forum.
the chat thing is missing, which is lame, but let's be honest -- while some chat is better than no chat, the chat thing was kind of whack

still waiting for the day when everyone hops on IRC

We reviewed a bunch of missing functions recently. I see some are working much better now.

Also, the color is going to be changed to help make things more inviting, cheery, etc. This will be especially noticeable on the index pages.

Some functions definitely work much better in non IE browsers such as Chrome.

The chat was pretty important to a lot of us, even if it was "kind of whack". I learned far more from people there than I did in the forum itself.

you reminded me about chatting on IRC.

i took a look, and some people had actually joined up only to find it essentially empty (sorry to entropyembrace, mcrdotcom, and others who had tried chatting).

this time, i promise there are actually a few of us in there now actively chatting.

if anyone wants to give it another shot, details are here: http://www.teachat.com/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=20719

Can stickied threads be delineated somehow from the rest of the threads in a topic? Currently there is no way to tell if a threa is sticky or not, other than looking at the date. This becomes especially painful in a sub forum with lots of stickied threads (such as the GREEN TEA FORUM) it takes me a good 15 seconds sometimes to find where the recent activities starts. This could be dropped to 1 second if stickied threads simply have a slightly lighter color.

And while I'm here, writing, can the text in the reply box that shows up when I'm writing a reply be bigger? It seems to be set to about 5pt text size at the moment, and at this text sie the serif font gets in the way of readability. Go san serif and a bit bigger please.

As is both these issues makes the forum hard to use, thus I don't use it much anymore. Can't be the only one.

Just wanted to say I am still sad chat seems to have been permanently removed. It really helped foster a sense of community on the forum, and I have many fond memories of late night chat sessions with teachat regulars :(
