Iced sencha with sparkling mineral water

by Ritva » Jun 2nd, '09, 09:55

Last week I was in a hurry and didn't have enough time to enjoy shincha properly. I had time to drink two steeps but didn't wan't to waste the leaves so I just steeped them twice more, bottled the tea and thought I would drink it cold later on. When I was taking the tea bottle out of fridge I saw a bottle of sparkling (carbonated) mineral water next to it. I remembered my granny mixing juice with sparkling mineral water so I decided to try if it would work with sencha. It was very good and refreshing! I was using fukamushi sencha and the taste was strong enough so that the tea could be diluted. I used about half and half of sencha and mineral water. Just thought I would share this with you if someone likes to have carbonated drinks and wants to have a healthier choice.

Sounds interesting! Worth trying for summer.
You know that when I was in Amsterdam and ordered
an iced tea, what came was a bottle Lipton sparkling
tea. It was unsual but once I got used to it, pretty
refreshing actually. :)

That's funny.
I have a chinese green that is so crisp and steely, witha mineral/slate thing
going on. I was thinking just yesterday "this would be could carbonated.
What if you made tea and then put it one of those soda bottles (like for scotch)??
“Take some more tea,” the March Hare said to Alice, very earnestly.
“I’ve had nothing yet,” Alice replied in an offended tone: “so I ca’n’t take more.”
“You mean you ca’n’t take less,” said the Hatter: “it’s very easy to take more than nothing.”
