Issue of fragrant aroma but disappointing taste.

by MysticBrewer » Sep 3rd 24 8:20 am

Has anyone else noticed how some teas can smell amazing but taste quite bland? I recently brewed a pot of jasmine tea that had a delightful floral scent, but when I tasted it, the flavour was so much milder than expected. It's a bit disappointing when the aroma suggests a rich taste that the tea itself doesn't deliver. I'm curious if others have had similar experiences with different types of teas. What might be causing this gap between scent and taste?

I think this is just a matter of taste. There are also people who like light and delicate teas and drink it mainly for the aroma.

I like very delicate green and white teas, but I prefer stronger raw pu erh teas.

If you like stronger jasmine teas, try avoid the ones that contain a lot of buds, such as snow jasmine, and go for ones that consists of larger leaves or broken leaves, which release more flavour.
Loving the stories behind every leaf.
