Where to get Kyusus

by devites » Apr 27th, '08, 21:25

With Shincha coming up it seems like its a good time to get a kyusu. Any suggestions on cheap or good quality kyusus.

Dens has one for 19 bucks, probably the cheapest you'll find. You can also get the kyusu with some of their shincha in a gift set. Tokoname would be another choise for quality.

this question has been asked a lot, do a quick search and see what you come up with. Like this thread..

My recommend is to order direct from the tokoname catalog, I got this perfect daily kyuusu for under 40 bucks _after_ shipping that way...

Tokoname pots are Japan's #1 kyuusu and are about as close to a perfect one as you can get for the money.

As you can see from the catalog (notice that you can click on the pages to make them better) the only real disadvantage is indecision when presented with so many choices. lol.

That should keep the kyusu seekers busy for a while.

I just ordered this kyusu a few days ago from artistic nippon.

I was surprised how fast Toru shipped it out. The pot was on it's way here only 2 hours after I ordered it.

Others that I've used and recommend are...

Kikumaru

and

Premium Sencha Teapot

 as well!

I think I'm ordering the new Den's shincha teapot ($19) as my first kyuusu.

Nice choice JT! I have an Artistic Nippon order en route as well, I will post pictures once it arrives.

I like Hokujo's Mogake-seawead Kyusu as well, though it's not what I ordered.

I purchased a budget tokonome from Rishi on Space's recommendation.

It's a fine teapot on a budget, and I'm not too frightened of chipping it.

This is a little off-topic, but ... anyone want a matching chopstick rest (hashioki)?

It took me a while to work out that this chopstick rest is actually an adorably clumsy replica of a Den's kyusu, complete with image of "Den-chan", the company mascot:
