I've seen genmaicha with matcha on several vendor sites and was wondering if this is something I can blend myself at home... and if so, what is the best way? I thought about putting some genmaicha in a baggie with a dollop of matcha and shaking gently until (hopefully) the leaves are coated. Could you just put a sprinkling of matcha directly into the pot when brewing?
Or is this a don't-try-this-at-home kind of thing?

Definitely go for it. I like to find ways to use up matcha, this is one. It does not have to be a good one, unless you have a good one that really needs to be used up.
I put maybe half a teaspoon of it in a sample tin along (I use an Upton tin) with the genmaicha blend of your choosing (or better yet a homemade blend) and just shake it around for a minute. Matcha is full of static electricity and will cling to EVERYTHING in the tin.
You can reuse the tin for the same purpose over and over. Tweek the ratio as you go.
Then go brew, yum!
