cornerska: Masaki Tachi Shigaraki Kyusu

by cornerska » Dec 29th, '15, 10:57

I have had this kyusu for less than a year or so. I really only drink puerh these days so it does not see any use. I would like to see it go to a good home, willing to make a deal with someone from teachat.

Your wish has been fulfilled, although I've been too preoccupied to post for a very long time. This is more capacious than my ideal but to put it in perspective, its capacity is 60 ml less than the not-all-that-big Hohryu I bought from Hibiki-an back in 2007. (I guess years of gong fu-style brewing have had a "small is better" effect).

The box is a plus--good thing I know how to tie cho-cho musubi!

Yes, I noticed that. I figured it was my trade-off for the increased capacity. :) This is actually the second time this has happened to me this month. Seven Cups had a 25%-off sale on teaware and I fell in love with a very expensive ben shan lu ni pot of larger-than-ideal size that I felt I HAD to have, regardless. I seasoned it but still haven't used it (partially out of fear)--I'm thinking of dedicating it to yancha.

My tea and orchid obsessions aren't cheap. :(

Yeah sweet looking pots. The clay doesn't perform as strongly as the rough clay does but its a stunning pot. I'm jelly

Oh, dear. And to think performance was foremost in my mind. :(

Oh no! I don't mean it like that! The clay is superb, the effect of the clay isn't as high as the rough clay but this is neither good nor bad imo. Its just different. I tried to buy this pot from the dude but shipping to uk was too high. Its a damn fine pot. You'll love it I'm sure!

While I'm glad to have it, I'm really sorry you missed it because I can tell that you'd have cherished it. Interestingly, I didn't find it here on TC but on eBay proper. And I sympathize with you about high shipping charges which is why, whenever I make online purchases from UK vendors, I have them shipped to a friend in London who obligingly hauls them along when he visits (I, of course, return the favor by accepting his U.S. online purchases). The downside is that I often have to wait a long time to take delivery as he spends most of his time in Thailand. However, it's better than not having it at all for someone like me (i.e. a gal congenitally allergic to high shipping charges).

With any luck, there'll also be a rough Shigaraki pot in my future and one like mine in yours. :)

No, it doesn't but unfortunately I need very little assistance to get into trouble because I'm motivated to ambitiously research my interests. However, as I'm sure all of us here know, if you throw a gaggle of similarly obsessed individuals together, they're going to end up enabling each other.

Be afraid . . . be very afraid . . .
