Is it good to drink tea on an empty stomach?
I’ve read different opinions about whether it’s healthy or not to drink tea first thing in the morning before eating anything. Some people say it helps boost energy and metabolism, while others mention it could cause stomach irritation, acidity, or even nausea, depending on the type of tea.
For example, green tea is often recommended for its antioxidants, but I’ve heard that on an empty stomach it might be too harsh. Herbal teas, on the other hand, seem to be gentler.
This website speaks about matcha, but I´m not sure if this info is relevant for other types:

What do you think? Do you drink tea on an empty stomach? If so, what type works best for you?
Re: Can You Drink Matcha on an Empty Stomach?
It really depends on the type of tea and your stomach. Matcha and stronger green teas can be a bit harsh on an empty stomach because they’re high in catechins and can trigger acidity or mild nausea for some people. Black tea is usually gentler, but still not perfect for everyone.
If you want something safe first thing in the morning, herbal teas (like ginger, chamomile, or mint) are usually the easiest on digestion.
Personally, I drink black tea from our Sri Lankan estate first thing in the morning and it’s totally fine—but green tea or matcha on an empty stomach definitely hits harder. Everyone’s different, so it’s worth experimenting to see what your stomach tolerates best.
