Kobiwako Clay and Sencha

Hi, I read a lot on Akira Hojo's homepage about his Kobiwako Clay tea pots and I wonder about buying one. Does anyone of you own one? I would love to hear comments about it. How would you describe the effect? Do you use it only for one cultivar or do you use it for different senchas?

I use this clay with sencha (as well as other teas).
Generally speaking, I feel the tea to be thicker, especially the body.
Functionally, Junzo's teapots are simply perfect.

Thanks for your reply. Good to hear, that the tea pots are functionally perfect! And also asthetically they look - at least at the pictures - amazing.

So do you use one tea pot exclusivly for one kind of tea or cultivar?

For sencha you only need one pot. So mix it up. As for the clay it's probably the best I've used for sencha. Agree with William. It makes the tea thick and full. Lovely!

Thanks! So you use it for different Senchas. Did you ever do a tasting, doing the same tea in your used teapot and in a glazed one?

yeah I often drink new senchas in glazed wares.

Im honestly tempted to get another one.
Who knows for how long this clay will be available?!

Do you have any houhin made with this clay? (if yes) Are they generally easy to handle?

Yeah they got the flat types. Akira designed them himself for functionality.
