T2 teaware lead concern?

by uslfd » Jan 17th, '18, 13:44

Hello all, im new to this forum

Recently i bought some teaware from T2
example like this one http://www.t2tea.com/en/uk/teawares/t2- ... color=Red

Some of them are porcelain, some of them are fine bone china. The one in the picture doesn't have overglaze, but some do have colourful overglaze (?) and metallic rims like this one http://www.t2tea.com/en/uk/teawares/tea ... BA939.html

Then i stumbled upon some info regarding lead in teapot paint / glazing.

I'm quite worried as all of their teawares are very colourful, in all sorts of colours like red / yellow / even metallic-ish rim.

3 questions:
1. Just wondering, if I should be concerned about lead leeching from these products?
2. Is fine bone china better than porcelain in terms of chance of lead leeching?
3. Is pure white glazed ceramic teapot 100% sure without lead?

Thanks very much, your advice much appreciated!!

Hey uslfd,

Andrew from Adagio here. T2 has some awesome stuff, right?! (we're kinda jealous!) Like us, in order to offer their products to the public - they have to follow strict guidelines for the safety of all their products. They would not be able to release an item for sale unless it fell well within safety standards. You don't need to be worried about your recent purchases!

This goes pretty deep at times, but check out this thread: viewtopic.php?t=5333

Modern tea-wares do not include lead in any glazing, mostly since the late 1970s/early 80s. There are also widely available lead testing kits like this one: https://goo.gl/UY7MYX which you could consider to really put your mind at ease!

Hope this was helpful! Can certainly post more! I'd recommend finally that you reach our to T2 with your question, I'm sure they'll be happy to help you too!
