Bormioli Glass Jars

wei301 was curious about my long-term storage for yancha, as I often keep tea around for years. I've used these jars for quite a while as they are readily available, completely airtight and reasonably priced. No messing around with the lid or worrying about leaks. Not very traditional, but for around $5, I have over a dozen in rotation and I will pick up more as needed!

i like these jars, they are very practical. i have a whole bunch for dry food storage. with tea you want to keep them in dark place. ive seen people putting socks or some wrapping on their jars of herbs to protect from light.

these old french jars come in green color. quite collectible

Ooh, the green is nice! I keep the jars in cabinets, drawers and even cartons (I moved recently and don't have space to unpack until I move my office to bigger digs, where I can set up a nice tea corner)!

Similarly I use Ball Mason Jars for the majority of my tea storage, get about 50g in their smallest 4oz jars which works out well for airtight storage of my japanese greens. I like the look of those jars a bit better vs the screw on metal lids for mason jars but as they have to be hidden away in the dark it doesn't really make a difference. Yay for canning supplies.

Enjoy! I suppose the jars could be wrapped in paper, but I've never bothered and just keep them out of the light as much as possible. My tea seems to age just fine that way.
