Hi everyone,
I'm very new to high quality teas, but will be ordering a few sample packs from adagio soon. I'd like to use my 3-cup Bodum French Press that I have (no longer using it for coffee bought a larger one for my wife and I).
I've been brewing coffee in my presses for a few years now and never had any issues with taste, but since the tea world is new to me I thought I'd ask.
Anyone using a coffee press as a dedicated tea press?

I was wondering about this as well. Glad I found this topic on it! I've had an ingenuiTEA (or another brand equivalent) for many years. Then I discovered a press that was insulated and great for on the go that I started using.
I was just in Shanghai visiting my boyfriend, and was in need of a tea infuser of some sort so I could enjoy some great tea while I was there. They had very small (2 cup) tea presses (it was a shop specifically with tea accesories) for 60yuan, which is about $8-$9 US. I didn't need another tea pot as I have several at home, and wanted something inexpensive to use while I was there anyway. I absolutely love it, and since i've been home i've been using it instead of my ingenuiTEA equivalent.
The only downside i've found is that occasionally a leaf or 2 will sneak out into your cup. Doesn't bother me, but just a note to everyone in case it would bother anyone else.

Hrm... i just got a bodum travel mug press, i'm not to optimistic about this product (for a change). It seems flimsy, and i can see it only being used for larger tea grades (darn redbush and yerba). But i figured it'd be great for when i'm lazy, and have to run out the door! I'm gunna use it for a week and write a review. Let me know how your press works.
Most of these presses are designed with coffee grounds in mind. Since you use more grounds than tea leaves it gives you plenty of room. From my experience there is plenty of room and then some.
Usually there is actually extra room underneath for a small amount of water, so keep that in mind if you keep your tea in the press (i.e. travel press). It may make the last few sips of your tea a bit stronger. I normally use a smaller press that's just the right size for my mug, so I don't leave it in the press much longer than the steep time anyway.
