Hi all! New member here. I have a base seal here that I’d like to translate. It’s from a modern pot, although certainly not Factory-made it is apparently a “generic” seal. Would be fun to know what it says!
Also the clay is, to my understanding, a mix rather than a single clay type. If anyone who knows their clays can offer any suggestions as to what types were used, that would also be interesting information!

Re: Base seal / clay mix interpretation
It's the generic "Zhong Guo Yixing" seal. Basically just saying 'Made in Yixing China'
Hard to tell from just the one pic, but clay looks like a sandy Pin Zi Ni (mixed purple clay). It almost looks like it might be a pin zi ni and duan ni mix. Basically everything under the sun in there.

Great, thanks. Here is also the seal on the lid. I might post another pic later on in the ‘show your pot’ threadtingjunkie wrote:It's the generic "Zhong Guo Yixing" seal. Basically just saying 'Made in Yixing China'

For clay type, that sounds like a good guess. In daylight there is also a subtle greenish hue to it. Works well with young sheng!

I'm actually red/gren colorblind, so in that case... good chance it's a modern lu ni that is doped with oxide powder. I *think* it's chrome oxide that adds a green color, but not 100% sure.jpatrick wrote:In daylight there is also a subtle greenish hue to it. Works well with young sheng!
