Re: has anyone bought Yixing teapot or teacup from this firm in china ?
Looks like fake Yixing to me.
Re: has anyone bought Yixing teapot or teacup from this firm in china ?
+1 on fake yixing
Shiny and unnatural colors. Prices are also well below what a mediocre modern yixing should cost. Bare minimum a modern pot with ok clay should cost $100-150 for simple shuiping. These designs and sizes should be well above that minimum price or your sacrificing clay and/or craftsmanship. You get what you pay for when you venture into inexpensive and cheap territory.

I've been on that website before and a lot of the teapots look questionable. Although it is not always possible, I recommend going into a physical store that sells Yixing teapots and looking at them in person before you buy them

Thanks for the inputs.
As real Yixing can be trickier and harder to find, have ventured into these two other brands:
Chaozhou: https://yunnansourcing.com/collections/ ... clay-wares
Jianshui:
https://yunnansourcing.com/collections/ ... ry-teapots
This firm looks reliable but anyone care to comment.
Thanks. Capri

Re: has anyone bought Yixing teapot or teacup from this firm in china ?
I picked up a couple of porcelain tea cups, on for work and one for home, and some tea. The tea sets arrived very quickly and were as advertised - very beautiful and top notch quality. I have no issues at all recommending this company.capri wrote: https://www.umiteasets.com/teapots/yixing-teapots.html

The old saying goes: "Tea is the king, the fire is the minister; the water is the mother, and the device is the father."
Tea utensils, that is, tea sets, are carried by tea, water and fire, and need to be subjected to high-temperature scalding or even roasting. In the long
historical evolution, tea sets have changed with the change of the way of drinking tea and the advancement of technology.
From the used in the Tang Dynasty sencha method to the gold and silver bottle used in the Song Dynasty tea method, to the ceramic tea utensils commonly
used in the brewing method that has been popular since the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The materials, shapes and types of these teas are also more colorful.
During the Tang Dynasty, the tea saint Lu Yu had a close-knit understanding of the relationship between the device and the tea. In the famous book "Tea
Classics", he used a special chapter to focus on the utensils used for tea and tea, and specifically discussed the different effects of different utensils
and the influence on tea soup.
So for those who love tea, what kind of tea set would you choose in front of a dazzling array of tea sets?
