Authentic Yixing Teapot?

I bought a Yixing Teapot from a seemingly reputable tea shop in Taipei for about $50 usd. Here are some pictures. Does it look authentic/worth $50?

Do I need to do anything prior to using the teapot for the first time? I forgot to ask and the shop is on break until the end of CNY.

Clay looks weird.

Seems like its coated inside and out w/ red but the base clay that Is showing on lid area isn’t zini (normal).

What do you mean? Color may be slightly off as I used flash for the pictures. Will more pictures help? If yes what angle should I take them at?

Hello from New Zealand I have what I think is a Yixing purple clay pot but I’m not 100% sure if I’m being honest I can’t upload the photos but it’s got detailed Asian writing covering the whole teapot and it is quite little also has marking underneath the teapot and just below the handle and also on the lid of the teapot please message me or email me tiwanakira@gmail.com

Your pot has signs of being made from 2 different clays w/ odd blotches of clay showing on underside of lid. Doesn’t seem like zini and the exterior seems to be coated with a shiny red clay w/ rough texture. It might just be the use of flash so take a few more clear pictures of lid rim and pot body opening. Normally it is done in these two styles.

neizhiwaihong is zini coated w/ red clay on the outside. Interior will have zini showing

neiwalinjiang Is zini coated on the inside and outside with red clay. Often passes as a hongni pot.

for this quality of teapot, you really don't need to do anything to "initiate" it.

Can you explain why it's not worth it? What about this teapot shows that it is low quality?

It looks nice in photos maybe because of the lighting, it still depends on you if you want to purchase it then go ahead.

clay not good, not hand made, metal net inside is unnatural,
and metal net soak in tea..?!

just don't use it

I've seen thousands of Yixing teapots, but never have I seen one with a metal net inside attached to the hole area. I wonder how it is attached to the clay?
